Economic Data Analysis

The aim of this master program is to provide students with knowledge and abilities in the area of economic data analysis. This covers many topics related to data acquisition, data processing, data dissemination and communication, data analysis including advanced statistical and econometric modelling and working with specialised statistical and econometric software as well.

EDA programme has two major specializations (students choose their specialization during the first semester):
Master in Official Statistics (MOS) and Data Analysis and Modelling (DAM).

 

Compulsory/ core courses 72 ECTS (MOS)/ 87 ECTS (DAM)
Elective/ optional courses 15 ECTS (MOS)/ 21 ECTS (DAM)
Internship in State Statistical Service (only MOS) 21 ECTS – compulsory in the 3rd semester
STUDY ABROAD PERIOD (only DAM) optional in 3rd semester
State Exams + Defence of the Master’s  Thesis 12 ECTS

EDA graduates will be qualified especially for positions in strategic, analytical and research departments of commercial and central banks, national and international statistical institutes, consulting companies, financial or government institutions, marketing agencies and large industrial firms.

There are two application rounds:

  • February 28 (recommended for Visa-required students)
  • April 30

Admission requirements:

Applicants are asked to:

  1. Complete the online application form, pay the application fee

  2. Submit a CV on a given template ( EDA, ISM)

  3. Add study documents  –  (ask for recognition of previous education at VŠE,  YT video)

  4. Pass admission exam ( EDA, ISM)

Admissions

EDA Master program is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic as a second-cycle higher education qualification.

According to the Czech legislation,  graduates of the program will be awarded the academic degree Ing. inženýr (engineer), which is the academic title awarded to graduates of master’s programmes in specific fields including economics, technical sciences and technologies.
The degree’s abbreviation Ing. is to be used before the name of the graduate (e.g. Ing. Jan NOVAK).

MOS specialization is  also accredited with the EMOS label (European  Master in Official Statistics), awarded by the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC) only to programs that fulfill strict requirements and offer high-quality education.
